Verruca Treatments in Ashford

Verrutop - Topical acid

Verrutop is a new type of verruca treatment aimed at the treatment of children with verrucae.

Unlike Cryotherapy or other chemical treatments, Verrutop does not act by freezing or burning the tissue. Instead, it denatures the viral protein and desiccates the wart tissue, which then falls off the skin, leaving intact skin underneath.

Treatment is normally quick and painless and therefore a good option for children or individuals with a needle phobia.

Verrutop is applied by the podiatrist to the verruca after the hard skin overlying has been removed. Once the Verrutop is applied, the patient is then required to apply surgical spirit to the lesion twice a day to encourage the lesion to dry out.

The patient is then to return in 2 weeks for further treatment.

Verrutop appointments last up to 30 minutes and cost £52.00 per application - see the fees page for more information.

Falknor's Verruca Needling

Falknor's needling procedure is an innovative and effective treatment for verrucae carried out by a qualified, HCPC registered podiatrist.

It is a form of soft tissue therapy which is intended to break down the verruca and create a controlled inflammatory response which, in turn, stimulates the body's immune system to recognise the virus and destroy it.

Needling is different from most other treatments as it only requires one, or occasionally two, applications making this an ideal treatment for busy people.

24 hours after treatment you can shower as normal without the need to keep bulky dressings dry. In fact, no dressings are required at all after 2 days, so you can continue with daily activities as normal.

The procedure is carried out painlessly under a local anaesthetic and a skin freezing spray. Only mild soreness the following day has been reported by a few patients, although the majority of patients feel no discomfort at all following treatment.

How does this treatment work?

By puncturing the verruca with an empty sterile needle many times, the viral particles are directly exposed to the fatty tissue beneath the skin where the body is rich in immune regulators.

Here, the immune system can recognise and destroy the virus. As this immune response is often systemic, treatment of only one Verruca is required even where there are many lesions as spontaneous remission occurs in all, or most, Verrucae at the same time.

At Easy Feet Podiatry, we offer Falknor's Needling as a package treatment for £250.00. See the fees page for more information.
